This exciting project in Bearspaw gave us an opportunity to create an entire outdoor lifestyle venue for a family looking to appeal to all ages and future generations.

We were hired to:

  • Create a front yard that accents the architecture of the home and adds to the overall curb appeal.
  • Connect the outside spaces with the inside, so that the landscaping feels part of the whole, rather than separate.
  • Respect the community’s architectural guidelines.
  • Include water drainage and conservation.
  • Create a space where kids and grandkids would want to congregate and stay.
  • Build in raised planters and beds.
  • Create a natural flow from outside spaces to inside, and from front to back.
  • Take care of all Rocky View County permissions.

Our clients had three primary considerations:

  • Curb Appeal: the clients wanted an exterior landscape that reflected and complemented the house’s design, providing a seamless flow from outside to inside.
  • Water Use: collection and reuse of rainwater were an important aspect of the project.
  • Sports Court: a multi-purpose, professional sports court was included in the design. It was important that it fitted with the landscape’s flow so that it felt integrated and could be used for other purposes, such as a dance floor.
As a starting point, we used the same stone from the face of the home throughout the hard landscaping. This not only accented the home, but created stages, or landings, that tied the outside of the home to the entrances. The end result was a seamless feel, and the outside spaces felt truly connected to the home.

A beautiful water feature graces the front yard. All rainwater is collected and used to run this water feature, as well as being used to irrigate beds and plantings. Water conservation was very important to client.

In the back yard, lawns and perimeter beds frame a magnificent, professional sports court. The court will be used primarily for pickle ball, but can also be used for basketball or even as a dance floor to stage a band or party.

The end result is a gated home that is elegant and architecturally integrated, while perfectly reflecting the owner’s lifestyle.
